Happy May 1st.

Last Sunday my neice's son had his first communion. To celebrate we went to an Italian restaurant Piatto Pieno (Full Plate). The restaurant is located in Little Italy. I love to go back to this neighborhood. My Mom was born there and so was Tony. The Jean Talon Market is there, a great place to shop for fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses and meats.

Our plates were very full indeed. We arrived at the restaurant at 2:00 PM and didn't leave until 6:00 PM. There were four different types of Antipasti, Crostini, Proschiutto & Mellon, Mozarella with Tomatoes sprinkled with olive oil and basil. The fourth was some kind of Italian grilled sausage shaped into a patty.

Next came three different types of pasta, Tortellini Gigi, Tagliolini with a tomoato sauce and Cavetelli with a white sauce. I only had a small taste of the pasta since I knew there was still another course to come. After cleaning the palet with an Italian Lemon sorbet we were served two different types of veal, one of the veal plates was served with a herb sauces, olive oil and fresh lemon. The other was a veal alla parmigiana. The veal was served with Insalata (Mixed Salad with olive oil and balsamic dressing). For me the salad was the best part of the meal.

The whole thing was topped off with a cake that was made special for the ocassion and espresso.

I worked off some extra calories at the gym yesterday and plan to go again today. I have an appoitment with the doctor later today. It's my yearly physical exam.

Now that's what I call a lot of food. How much of it did Tony eat? I love the piece of cake with the little boy kneeling. Is the cake called Italian Wedding Cake?

I love that one. We had an Italian bakery where I could get an Italian Wedding Cake for every one of our special occasions. The family loved it.

Hope it warmed up for you. Hugz!

What a wonderful way to celebrate. All the dishes sound so good. I remember when I made my 1st Communion-we also celebrated at a (my grandparent's) restaurant.
Wishing you a wonderful day.
Hugs,
